If the World Cup was any indication, creators are a crucial marketing pillar of sports leagues and major sporting events, drawing new fans to sports through their secondary broadcasts or paid partnerships. USA Fencing recognizes that power, and is attempting to make fencing the hottest sport of the summer— two years ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The numbers don’t lie: A recent report from Acceleration Community of Companies (ACC), an independent collective of media, marketing, and communications agencies, revealed that 49% of Gen Z sports fans became interested in a new sport or athlete through fan-created content.
Though the last two Olympics have heavily featured creators (from athletes competing at the games to official NBCUniversal creators) this will be the first one on American soil since they were welcomed into the villages, sidelines, and broadcasts.
