You know it has been the craziest midterm political season when, under the guise of “U.S. Government,” the White House — the United States’ federal seat of power — is running a campaign touting President Trump’s accomplishments when he isn’t running. Critics call the unprecedented move an abuse of power, while the White House calls it a “public service announcement.”
Whichever side of the political spectrum you sit on, it’s another $20 million or so pumped into an already red-hot market for political advertising, which is on track to break spending records to the tune of nearly $12 billion. (The estimate is $11.6 billion according to AdImpact, but hey, what’s $400 million among attack ads?)
