Cookies and Tracking

About  Tracking Cookies.
After clicking on affiliate link, the cookies are created (assume that click tracking code is inserted correctly). Most affiliate tracking software will use a variety of cookie types: 1st party -cookies created on the domain/url you are at, 3rd party cookies which are from a remote domain as an affiliate network like PepperJam and flash cookies which are used in tracking by both networks and private affiliate programs. The Flash cookie is not cleared when you clear your internet cookies from your browser’s cache. 97% of all internet users have Flash installed and most of the big companies like Microsoft (MSN), Google, Flickr, Skype, Twitter, Ikea, Paypal, and Youtube all use Flash cookies to track visitors

1st and 3rd party cookies
Deleting of 1st and 3rd party cookies is simple. In Firefox 3, you can left click on icon just left of the URL and click on more information. Then press view cookies, select all cookies from your domain and delete them. These cookies are browser specific so they are saved only in that browser in which you used affiliate link. If you use IExplorer then you have to delete cookies inside of IE browser. How to delete cookies from your specific browser can be found here:

Flash cookies
Deleting flash cookies is also not hard to do, but they are no longer browser specific, so when you use let’s say Firefox with some affiliate link, the cookie will be available in every one of your installed browsers like Chrome, IExplorer, Opera, etc.. In order to delete cookies you need to visit this page: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html Here you can specify sites or delete cookies (flash content) from all sites.
