Ad Tech Briefing: Inside The Trade Desk’s POV on the future of open internet monetization

To say there’s been some rancour in the ad tech ecosystem this year would be quite the understatement, and in his latest “Open Internet 2025” missive, The Trade Desk CEO Jeff Green reemphasized his long-running campaign against opacity in the digital ad supply chain.

In particular, his Oct. 2 opinion piece targeted resellers and supply-side platforms accused of duplicating and obfuscating bid requests. Green argued that recent changes to the industry’s Transaction ID, or “TID” (hurray for a new ad tech abbreviation), introduced by some resellers, undermine transparency and disadvantage premium publishers by making auctions less efficient.

Etsy sellers aren’t sure about the new ChatGPT checkout integration

Etsy sellers are voicing mixed opinions about the platform’s new partnership with OpenAI, which marks a major development in how consumers are using AI engines to shop.

Last week, Etsy said it had enabled checkout directly through ChatGPT for U.S. buyers and U.S. sellers. The partnership means that Etsy users can browse and buy products from Etsy storefronts within ChatGPT, without having to go to Etsy’s website or app. The news comes two and a half months after the Financial Times reported that OpenAI was in the early stages of integrating checkout into ChatGPT.
